2000 FLHPI swingarm pivot bolt
When I changing out the original cleave block swingarm to a 2002+ arm I found the original pivot bolt to be parkerized and .630, .005 over 5/8". Fits the transmission housing with a perfect slip fit. Was stock on the police bikes?

Doesn't look like it. You can check part numbers for your bike on any of the on-line parts websites, like this one. There is a separate section for Police bikes.

Does anyone have a stock 2001 and older swingarm that can measure it? I was surprised to see mine is green parkerized like a WWII firearm.

I have one here that also measures .630", but is bright plated, not heat treated in appearance.

My 04 rk has a greenish parkerized shaft. I gave the dimensions previously in another post where I complain about the slop in between the shaft and the inner bearing bushings.

Thank you for the replies. Guess .630" is normal. The aftermarket companies should note this.
I had ordered and received a set of Glide-pro rear isolators and shaft and had reamed the bushings to .625" for a very precision slip fit. Installed the kit, had some slop in the transmission but when torqued down there was no play. Took it out for a couple rides and it vibrated like a new Victory Vision, hard pounding vibration, vibrating floorboards and mirrors. Tried adjusting everything and couldn't get it to go away. Pulled the Glide-pro isolators out and went to reinstall the old pivot with new oem isolators, that's when I found the pivot diameter difference. Had to pull the swingarm and ream the bearing and spacer bushings .005 to fit the old shaft. Reassembled no play in the transmission bore and runs smooth now. I think the bike does track better with the spherical bearing swingarm. |
