Idiot Mechanic

Last night i was routing the extension harness for my relocated horn when I notice a quarter drive 6" long extension with a 5/32" allen socket sitting horizontally in the fairing - been there about 300 miles I think. I know its been there about 300 miles because I'm the idiot mechanic. LOL:)

I'd consider firing him. :)

I used to love going to junkyards for parts and finding forgotten tools from previous "shoppers". I dare say I've probably left a few myself as I got busy disconnecting something.

P51, FIRE HIS AZZ ON THE SPOT! I would never let him work on my bike again, take it to the dealer from now on! When I was stationed at Wheeler Army Airfield in Hawaii, I learned a thing called FOD walk (foreign objects and debris) After every helicopter service, the mechanic has to inventory his toolbox to make sure everything is there AND at the start of each day, EVERYONE in the unit walks the air strip to make sure nothing is laying around that would bet stuck in the engines or damage the blades, hence the name FOD. It was kewl, when the mechanics got done with a bird, they would call the motorpool ( wheeled side) and ask us who wanted to go on a test flight. I have flown all over the Islands of Hawaii just for the ride. My point is OP, check and re-check before you button it up for the ride. Now go out and fire his lazy azz for not picking up the tools, lmao.. Seriously, glad the tools didn't move around and short something out, you are lucky dude. Stay safe out there man.

Consider becoming a surgeon. From what I've read every now and then, you may be qualified! :)

It can happen.
Shadow your tools, you'll know at a glance what's missing.
Like the other poster, know al about FOD and FOD walks.....work for Boeing.

Oh, I knew it was missing as I have all my sockets lined up on rails - just didn't know where it had gone.

The snap-on dealer had a set of promo black wrenches on his truck for about three months before he lowered the price for a poor sucker to buy them.
Like he said I'll never have a warranty them. lol

didn't happen to find my quarter inch drive 1/4 socket in there , did you ?
