2014 Blinker - How to get wires out?

1 Attachment(s)
I'm pulling apart my bike to powdercoat stuff and ran into an issue.
The front blinkers come apart into two pieces (the bracket and the pod) and the wires run into the blinker pod. I need to get the wires out so that this thing can be baked in the oven but I can't seem to figure out how. Is there some way to open it up and get the electronics out? Thanks.

My guess is that you would take the wires out of the plug that is to the right in your picture. The instructions for dis assembly of all connectors is in the service manual.

You have to remove the pins from the connector. Thats what I did when I PC'd them.

Yeah, I got the connector figured out but I also want to powdercoat the pod too. This would require the wiring to be removed from it and also any plastic pieces on the inside. Is this possible?

Anyone? Just trying to get the electronics out of the pod.

if you are trting to remove the inside wires and socket out of the signal I think you can remove the buld and then pry up the plastic insert with the socket and all should pull out the top. There is a spring around the plastic insert to hold wires in place. At least that is how it is on the lolly pop style

Thanks!

If I am reading the service manual correctly, There is a small hole on the bottom of the reflector assembly, use a right angle pick or a small hex key to go into this hole and that should allow you to pull out the socket assembly. Now I am not 100% sure since I am not a mechanic, nor have I ever done this. But that is what is listed in the Service Manual. (14 touring)

Of course... If you just over fill the blinker fluid, turn on the hazard lights the over pressure of the system will pop the whole thing apart for you :)

Good luck.

That worked! I pressed the spring loaded plate down to expose a small hole. I put a tiny Allen wrench I there and gave it a pull with some pliers. It came out surprisingly easy. To reinstall, slip the rubber seal over the light assembly and press it all back in as a whole.

Here's a pic of the first batch of stuff at the shop.
Thanks again guys!

Yea I did the ones on my '10 SG a while back, you have to pry out the "innards" and pull the wires out thru the cone after removing that molex style connector where it plugs into the bike wiring. Same with the rear bullets.
