I have Emergency Road Service (ERS) for my automobiles, but they don't cover motorcycles. Since I'm heading out on some long trips, I would be interested in knowing what service folks use. Is there such a thing as ERS for motorcycles?
The ones I'm aware of are provided by our thru HOG, American motorcycle association, and AAA RV Plus. Currently have the free service that came with my 1 year HOG membership when I bought my bike. I also have the Harley ESP with tire and wheel coverage that includes towing so I haven't purchased separate ERS coverage. From what I have read I believe the coverage from the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) is the best deal. You can do a Google search and find the website.
I found that even though I use AAA for vehicles the RV+ to include motorcycle was too steep unless you of course also have an RV. I currently have Roadside Assistance with my Progressive insurance which is very cheap and basic and also have my complimentary HOG Roadside due to current bike being new.
Thankfully I've never had to use either but nice have.
I am a HOG member and roadside assistance comes with the membership. I have used it along with other HOG members I know and it works well. If you intent to joint a HOG chapter in your area you have to have a HOG membership so it's already paid for. My dealer gave me a years free membership when I bought my SG last summer.
The basic coverage comes with the HOG membership. Many do what I do and upgrade for $28 per year to the next level which is free towing to the nearest H-D dealer, no matter how far it is. If you travel out of densely populated areas with lots of dealerships, it's worth the extra.
Check around on your Motorcycle Insurance options.
I found a better deal on bike insurance with another company, and it INCLUDED ERS, no extra charge.
I already have the Extended Warranty, then this just shows up. Includes trip interruption, Hotel stay, meals, towing to HD Dealers, all kinds of options.
I am also a HOG Member, that leaves some to be desired...
HOG member here as well as AAA with RV+. Haven't used it...yet. Awhile back, a buddy, who also has these, just called the nearest HD dealer. They came out with their enclosed trailer and brought the bike back to the dealership. They were there within a half hour.
The best bang for the buck in my opinion is the coverage that the AMA offers when you do automatic renewal.
$49.00 year AMA membership +
Coverage for all your vehicles in your household, including motorcycles, cars, trucks, RVs and even trailers!

Only costs me 19.95/year to upgrade my HOG service to road America towing to nearest dealer. I have lifetime HOG membership so this is all I pay/yr. the basic HOG package allots $100 toward towing which is usually $300-$400
