Yes, Im using a ARC amp with RCA jacks. The gain on the amp has to be turn up more than with the stock radio. I do feel that the stock radio is better made for a motorcycle and will hold up to weather conditions better than the Sony. The USB port on the front of the Sony is a nice feature and when connecting your Ipod to the Sony you can control your Ipod using the handlebar controls. Overall I like the Sony...just hope Im not making a mistake by selling the stock headunit.

 

So it will work with a 05 standard and the handlebar controls will still work

The HK radio can be retrofitted to bikes back to '98 according to Iron Cross Audio--the experts on the HK radio.

My installation was detailed in this lengthy thread (it's long because I installed a lot more than just the HK radio) and you'll see the "one wire" change needed to make the Automatic Volume Control work:

Whether the bike is an '04 or '05 makes no difference; the wiring on the EG Standards is the same for purposes of installing the HK radio.

Installations on bikes older than '04 work fine, but the AVC won't work because of the difference between how the bike's speed is sent to the speedo.

This is a great opportunity to get an enhanced HK radio and it will be a plug and play installation in the '04 or '05 EG Standard.

I wouldnt give it a week unless you already made that arrangement that he will pay you next week. I would suggest taking money from the first person who can make payment. If I am serious about buying something the paypal funds would be there as soon as I committed to it.
