Default Inspection Cover leaking

I have a 2004 Harley Sportster 883. There appears to be trans fluid leaking from the inspection cover when bike is warm. 1) How do I go about changing my trans fluid because all the videos I watch say that they're putting primary oil in the inspection cover opening once it's removed. 2) what's the difference between primary oil and engine oil and if I use fully synthetic engine oil do I need fully synthetic primary oil. Or should I be using trans fluid still? I bought bike in NJ but live in FL and was told that it gets so hot here the trans fluid thins and could cause seizing. After being burned by a "reputable" shop I am hesitant to let another shop touch my bike and would rather learn to service it myself.
