Default Flag Pole

I have an upcoming PGR mission. I'm sure this issue has been talked about before so please excuse the repeat. What is the best thing to use as a flagpole foe 3x5 flags at speeds up to 60mph. I've seen the warnings but I've also seen riders doing highway speeds. Thanks for any suggestions.

If the trike in the pix is yours, you already have a trailer hitch. That is the only place to put a flag that can't do body damage using 3x5 flags. Lots of people use the tour pac rack for smaller flags, & then the 3x5 flags for standing flag line.
I built a 3 flag holder for my hitch that bolts on in place of the ball. Then support the poles from the tour pac mounting(under the tour pac) to the poles.
I still limit my speed to about 45mph. If nothing else it will tear up flags in a heart beat !

Thanks for your reply. Mounting the flag to the trike is not the issue. What I would like to know is what material to use to make the flag pole itself.

I use 1 1/4" X 6' closet pole material. (Pine) It also comes in 1 5/16". I then screw in an "I" screw on 3 places for the flag, & use carabiners to connect the two.
Using 6' poles can then be used in the flag line also.

I use a 3/4" heavy aluminum conduit pipe with a cap on the top end. Took a heavy 3/4" threaded rod about 18" long in place of the ball on the hitch. I took red, white, and blue duct tape and "striped" the conduit. Not flashy but that's not the point of it's use.

Unfortunately, putting a hitch mount on a HD trike voids the warranty. So I have no way of flying a 3x5 flag for PGR missions. Apparently, even though I have no intention of towing a trailer, HD does not want anyone to display patriotism.

Remember Harley has to prove the flag holder or the flag caused the failure on the warranty.
I don't have the trailer wiring on the trike to pull a trailer. So they have to prove the "flag mount"(hitch) caused a problem.
It might take a lawsuit but I for one won't back down. Especially sense the use of the hitch is for the American Flag ! They wouldn't like the publicity unending for years !

Rivco may have another option, they have a bumper that has flag mounts, but now only for the Tri-Glide.(HD550) Hopefully they will have it for the Freewheeler. Sent them an email.
