Planning on buying my first Trike
#11
How about something different. Buy the trike that talks to you, ride it a couple thousand miles THEN decide what modifications you need to make to suit your needs/desires. We are all different sizes, shapes, etc. and what suits us as individuals may totally destroy your enjoyment of the ride.

I don't have nearly as much experience on 3 wheels as most on here, just closing in on my 1 year mark after being on 2 wheels for over 45 years. If I would have just test drove a TG or rented one for a day I probably would not have made the change. It took me a few hundred miles to get comfortable and really start liking it.
I drove mine stock for the first month or so as I compiled a list of "must have" ad-ons. Aftermarket slip-ons, rear trunk guard (bumper), mirror extensions, tall boy seat, luggage rack, foot brake extension, different grips, and two different size windshields so far were required. Will probably do a tank lift kit and floor board extensions soon.

Welcome aboard!
Here is my list (based on Triglide):
rear lift kit
rear bumper
passenger highway pegs (gives your passenger more options for comfort)
floor board extenders (driver)
tour pac relocator (after you have ridden and if your passenger wants more room)
tour pac rack
DK air deflectors (I did the 1.5" tank lift as well)
Good luck to you!

Sorry, I don't mean to make this decision more complicated then necessary; however, when I reach a physical state wherein I can no longer ride a conventional motorcycle, I will begin looking for a sidecar. California Sidecar has some pretty fancy options. And yes, I did rent a Tri-Glide for several days while on vacation in South Dakota. I liked it, but I believe I'd like the sidecar rig more.
