I have recently purchased a 2009 HD Tri Glide and I am experiencing a problem with the engine revving up periodically to 1800-2000 RPM when at a idle or when creeping around at just above idle. Any suggestions? One person told me that it was probably the Idle air valve.

 

Or an air leak. However the problem would be more consistent at idle if that was the case. Take a look at your plugs and make sure it's not running very lean. That would create heat problems.

 

Be sure and check the map sensor plug just behind the air cleaner, & to the rear. Check for water & contamination. Put dielectric grease on when you plug back in.
