"Say What ?" How the hell did the clutch cave at 2,900 miles ?
Mike...I'm thinking, He meant the switch on the clutch lever , And that wound't change the no-start problem, Theres a secret to starting the 17's, And its hidden deep in the manual....Like Yogi said, You can observe a lot just by looking..
Mine turned out to be the little bracket that holds the left hand switches in. One of the little screws that holds the switches in, the top right one, the hole in the bracket was broken off so that screw was not holding anything down. So it will be going to the dealer for warranty repair or replacement. (Sometimes mine would start in gear and sometimes not.)

Ah Soooooo ! Speaking of the manual, does it show the pattern to tighten the rear lug nuts ?
Your friend is not alone on this one. Many have been caught off guard with that "safety feature". Clutch and the brake needs to be applied when starting in gear. Been several threads about that in this section. Tell him to join us. Much to learn here.
I still haven't figured out yet on how to defeat that safety feature. Dealer was no help also.
New to Tri-Glide. Yea, I noticed that and just assumed that was the "way it was". Did not know about the "brake and in-gear" over-ride. Since there was such a big emphasis on not running over your own leg, I just figured this was another safety thing to insure "you know where your transmission is" before you start.
