Default 2017 Tri only starts in neutral?

I'm still a two wheel guy and not in this section too often but here for my riding bud. He just upped his 2015 Triglide to a 2017 Triglide. He told me the 2017 will only start while its in neutral even if the clutch lever is pulled in. Does this sound right to the rest here that have a new model? And is there anyway around this deal?

My 2017 CVO Limited is not like this so I wonder what would be MOCO reason for doing this to the trike models only?

Your friend is not alone on this one. Many have been caught off guard with that "safety feature". Clutch and the brake needs to be applied when starting in gear. Been several threads about that in this section. Tell him to join us. Much to learn here.
I still haven't figured out yet on how to defeat that safety feature. Dealer was no help also.

Yes, and the brake also has to be applied......

His 2015 Tri-Glide should have been the same way for starting in gear. At least my 2015 is. I don't mind that feature as long as I'm aware of it.

Tks guys. I'll pass this on. And his 15 did start by applying brake and clutch but could be in gear. Tks again.

Okay, I'll bite, micro what? My 16 would only start in gear with clutch pulled and brake applied before and after I changed grips.

Or my new grips are to thick to allow the clutch lever to come back far enough.
