Default Starter question

Question, when I start my trike in the morning, the bike hesitates for a second but it does starts right away after the hesitation. I know the bike does have lots of accessories when it starts but I want to make sure that this is normal for this new trikes. Thank you.

Since the symptoms sound like possibly a weak battery, but shouldn't be so on a 2017, I recommend you check (or have checked) the electrical connections at the battery and the starter.
Last weekend, I had the same issue with a friends 2017 Limited. Turned out to be a very slightly loose hot connection to the starter. 1/2 a turn on the nut and no more issues.

I hope this helps.

If you are starting in gear, Are you stepping on the foot brake [Firmly] first then pressing the starter button...

Yes I always start my trike in Neutral/floor brake engaged. Again the hesitation is for a second or so but then the trike starts strong. Thanks.

Mine did that a little when a couple of years old, so I kind of got used to it, it might have been getting worse up to this third year, even kept on a tender all the time. But last weekend on a 4-dealer ride it wouldn't start at the gas station across the street from the third one. They replaced it and had us back on the road in 45 minutes. Now starting is much more brisk.

Two morals of the story; what you've got needs looked at, it's not normal; and consider replacing your battery every three years.

PS, thanks to Tyler at Rubber City Harley, he even carried the new battery over, replaced it, and hauled the old one back, no labor charge.

When you take it in for service have them look at the compression release valves. Also, switching to synthetic oil will help with the starting.

My 1k service was done and the electrical check was good, I did change to synthetic oil at that time. Also the starting hesitation only happens when the bike is cold, (first start in the morning) anytime after that, the bike does start normal. I did check the battery wires to ensure nothing was lose. Thanks
