I drive into the spot and turn the front end back out to the street. Then just push back with my feet (hardly ever use reverse for this) just enough to be in the spot but not close to the curb. End result is slightly angled in the spot, then I just drive out when leaving. I always take terrain into account when parking anywhere, so that I can minimize using reverse. In a parking lot, I will find a spot where I can just drive through. Works for me.
