1. Chrome & Ceramic is expensive
2. Since anything with a blemish on it cannot be sold as new, and because there is a high % of units coming off the line with blemishes, that has to be factored into the cost. (because of this, you may have notices we do very little chrome, and no ceramic)
3. There is a super high Customer Service expense involved....folks don't want any blemishes, they don't want any bluing, and sometimes a blemish will get thru QC, and many times engines run so hot that the chrome ends up bluing...to maintain Customer Satisfaction, the company may have to eat the cost of those slip-ons....and what really happens is those costs get built into the price.
4. The above is just the finish...but they also have to be perfectly round (or oval) with no waves, weld seams, bumps, irregularities, etc. Things that you see on every car and truck muffler...these are not acceptable on our HD mufflers.
5. Many of the exhausts are surprisingly low production runs...bumping up costs due to less economy of scale than non-motorcycle exhausts.
There are probably a lot more reasons...but those are some very real ones...and some of the reasons we have not gotten into making them ourselves.
btw, I made some killer slip-ons a few years ago for my Trike. They outperformed every exhaust we've ever tested....And they were FUGLY...I mean, they were HORRIBLE looking on the trike, and if they were on a 2 wheeler, where slip-ons are Much More Visible, well, no one would run them....but they were cheap and great performers.

I have the Twin Slash Rounds and love them. More of an even comparison is my buddy has them on his 2015 Trike with all other exhaust stock, like you plan, and his sounds great. Mine has a decatted headpipe, a high-flow a/c, and DK Thunder Torque inserts, which I am sure changes the volume, if not the sound itself. (It actually is a bit deeper.)
But, like I said, just those slip-ons sound great.

If you don't mind loud...the modded stock slip-ons, produce the best power of any slip-ons I've ever tested, except for the very quiet Series-E....and they are only a little bit better performance.
