the ignition lock on 2012 tri-glide won't stay down in the locked position when I lock it .I have removed it several times and cleaned it and dry lubed it still wont stay down and it will turn on if turned even with the key in locked position
Make sure you have the bars held hard against the left stop and try it, mine won't engage the pin and stay down unless I do; that may explain still being able to turn the switch with it locked, it really isn't fully locked until the pin full engages and it's all the way down. I think.
It pins the forks down but still jumps up on the tumbler and will turn to any position even though it is locked on the tumbler. I watched a video of someone having same issue and he found holding the tumbler down and turning it from the fork lock position to the off position and then locking the tumbler with the key does lock the bike. I will use this method till some one fiqures out the reason it won't lock in the proper manner.
Thanks for Your input.
On my 15 TG the switch would lock but the forks weren't. When I took it in for the 1K the dealer looked at it for me and found a burr on the pin. They cleaned it up for me and it works fine now. I hold the forks over, turn to lock, push down and lock with the key.
