Anyone planning to attend the 2018 Deadwood Trike Rally in Deadwood,SD, next July 10-15? My wife and I made reservations earlier this week at the Best Western there and plan to convoy up, with other trike riders.
This will be the event's 3rd year and our first time to attend. Room rates are a bunch cheaper and not having to contend with the huge crush of the Sturgis event will be a plus, also.

 

2018 Deadwood Trike Rally will be the 4th year. Powder River Trikers from Gillette,Wy will be there helping out First Gold.

 

We attended last year (3rd annual). I'm glad we visited the area and will certainly return, just not to the Deadwood Trike Rally. IMHO it was pretty lame. Maybe they can improve it as the years go on.

 

Haven't been there as of yet just wondering,not trying to start a big argument what didn't you like? I know some rally's leave a lot to be desired.

Our group from Tx is coming to ride the Black Hills. Anything else, trike-wise, is just icing on the cake. A rally four years in the making (Deadwood) is not going to match one almost eighty years old (Sturgis).
It's up to the trike community to make it happen.

 

Clint44, You are right, its the Trike people that make it. We had a great time there.

 

Did not know the rally was on then. We will be in Spearfish on the 12th - 13th for one day of riding on our way home from Yellowstone. Maybe will see some of you "on the road".

 

Don't want to discourage anyone from trying it out. Maybe it will get better year from year. There were only 2 or 3 vendors that were worth while. We tried the first couple rides but there were so many bikes and so many levels of experience that it was impossible so we gave up on that. The local Legion Riders group that led the rides were great but they could only do so much.

We made some really good friends in the campground we were staying at. Since everyone had trikes we ended up riding all week on our own.

 

It is a 3 wheel Rally so obviously trike people will make it what it is, but by the same token First Gold and whoever else is setting this thing up and making the money needs to try to make it better each year.
