Front head motor mount
Does anyone know the size of these bolts ? I know Kevin from DK customs was talking about replacing them with grade 8 bolts to keep them from failing. Just wondering if they are both the same size and if i need to support the engine while changing them out ? THANKS !

..good morning....i have an 09 t/g....i had this problem with mine......the h.d. part number is 4721 it is a 3/8-16 x 1 1/2 hex bolt grade five.......i dont know what grade eight will do..........do your bolts (one at a time) fall out....of course this leaves support for the engine.....ok. i had about two or three fall out......then i figured out the threads on the HEAD were stripped.......oh, wow wonderful was that.......at the time i was on a cross country trip....stopped in the h.d. in lubbock tx........they did not have a new head in stock.....SO...they had to remove the head.....and they performed or put in a thing or stuff called "linesert"....this fixed the problem...........this was about seven years ago.....lucky for me t/g was still in warrantee........so,,,,,good luck to ya.

Front motor mount bolts backing out was a problem on our '09 and '14 Tri-glides. After coming loose twice on the '09 I used loctite and the problem ended. On the '14 when the bolts got loose, the mount rattled around and the bolts became frozen into the head. That was almost a 2 grand fix, fortunately under warranty. After the new head fix, at just over 300 miles they came loose again. We were on vacation, and Mother Road Harley in Kingman Arizona 'fixed it again' hasn't become loose again. I carry a wrench with us now and check them regularly.

That front motor mount bolt fell out of our 2012 triglide last year on the 4th of July. We were in Texas and didn't know anybody, and there were no Harley shops open. Luckily, a Lowes was nearby and also open, so, I pulled in and got a 3/8"x1-1/2" grade 8 bolt. I screwed the bolt into the hole, thankfully, there was no thread damage, and I torqued the bolt to 45 foot pounds. I've checked it several times now and it hasn't backed out yet.
