It does start, but jumps.
I have spoken to the Harley dealership about the recall and am waiting for them to schedule me.
What makes it jump is the many plates and clutch disks sticking together until without the clutch spring pressure are allowed to part when the clutch cage is rotated while starting.

So does the clutch need attention, other than the recall?

That jump is something normal. The newer bikes you have to apply the brakes and pull in the clutch for the start. You might not feel that bump forward like that.
No, that's backwards. With ETIMS enabled and activated when above air temp above 80 deg at idle your rear cylinder drops out. If a one cylinder idle is better for you than two then you have a real problem.
This quote is from Service Bulletin M-1436, 2016-12-13. It related to M8 motors which is what the OP has - a 2017 Tri-Glide.
The 2017 Milwaukee Eight engine warm idle speed is 850 RPM, but the idle speed can vary depending on other factors including electrical load on the vehicle. When EITMS is active on this engine, the idle speed will increase to 950*1000 RPM until EITMS is deactivated
Not sure how EITMS affects idle speed on Twin Cams. There may be a service bulletin on them also.
