Heated Grips for my 2018 Trike Ultra Questions
#11
No, I did not want to buy another add on...wiring kit when I found that the standard Black Rubber ones work without the wiring hassle. I live 140 miles from the H.D. Dealer so this coming week I am going to Boise for an attempt at trading to the alternate product.
We'll see how that goes.

I'm a bit confused as to why these grips would not work on your 2018 TG. I really think they would. I looked at the instructions and it's a bit hard to see all the detail but why the Airflow grips would hook up differently from the Black Rubber grips I cannot determine and do not see why they would be a difference. As for the Electrical Connection Update Kit 69201599A (I'll call it a harness) the instructions say you need I think that is in error. This harness according to its specific instructions:
Fits ’18-later SoftailŽ models and ’17-later Touring and Trike as a mid-bike connector (near the seat).
And you don't need power near the seat! There is a plug already in fairing area which is where I got power for my Black Rubber grips. Personally I think H-D is FOS about this.

UltraFXR,
Here's the deal the Air Flow Heated Grips are made for External Handlebar only on the Left Side. The wiring will not go internal and the Connector low on the left side of the BATWING Fairing will not mate up with the external only wiring. With the 2018 and likely 2017 does NOT require the additional Electrical Wiring Kit. Further, there is no need to wire in under the Gas Tank and the Seat. The pair of connectors in the fairing includes a power lead that powers both sides. The Solid Black Rubber Heated Grips will wire internally without any additional H.D. add-ons......
