Default DOT 4 Flush

Another site advocates flushing brake and hydraulic line every two years. Does anyone do this?

You need to do it for sure on an ABS Harley since their control unit was built with inferior parts. As the fluid absorbed moisture, the unit will hang up.

My guess and only a guess is the OEM unit probably up to a certain year is probably going to have a short life. Probably just changing flud is just putting off failure till it is out of warranty.
Another Mother Ship gotya...Just my opinion.
Hopefully, they have upgraded the replacement.

Absolutely do it at minimum every two years whether you have ABS or not. Lost function of both my clutch and rear brake riding Sandia Crest Byway a couple years ago. Both lines run very close to the exhaust and the fluid overheated allowing the water in it to boil turning to steam and losing pressure in the system. After it cooled down they worked again but the fluid was nasty looking (and smelling). DOT 4 is hygroscopic and no matter what over time water will infiltrate.

Do it annually! We recommend it despite the 2 year line that HD gives. It's easy to do and cheap to boot!

It's not just Harley but my car as well has a service for brake fluid every two years.

Needs to be done, every two years like others. Some will try to say you can do it right by your self . You can not. If the ABS is not cycled while doing it you are wasting your time. The whole reason for the flush is the fluid sitting in the ABS

I agree wholeheartedly with that statement. It's the main reason I created our HD1 and HD2 products.

Flush it annually and flush it right! Leaving the fluid in the HCU is not a wise move (nor possible without a tool).

You could flush it , drive it on icey roads and then flush again if you are determined....

Funny (and bigger ***** than me) stuff.

Jokes aside, that isn't sufficient. Watch our video and see how long the valves are actuated and how much pedal/lever movement is required to ensure full fluid evacuation from the HCU.
