Default PTT and Cruise Control switch

I added a CB to my 2017 Trip-Glide. The PTT button is on the throttle side and the cruise control button is on the clutch side. I want to switch these buttons as the reach to the PTT button is too wide for me and I end up twisting the throttle or turning the squelch button up or down. Does anyone have any insight as to why the dealer is giving me the run around? He previously told me it could be done?

According to You-Tuber, Doc Harley, HD has a kit that reverses the location of the PTT and Cruise switches. (Video posted 21 February, 2019) He says the kit part number is 71500494. I looked that part number up via Google search and it looks like about a $20 kit. I have no idea what is required to install the kit, but with the part number you should be able to go back to your dealer and figure it out. I suspect it's fairly new given the date of the You-Tube video.
Hope this helps.

Default Here ya go.

The "kit" doc Harley is talking about is nothing more than two new push buttons for you to swap. The actual internal swapping to the BCM has to be done by a HD dealer via their computer program. I went through this a year or two ago when it first became available. I ordered "lighted" switches and installed them also. When I went to my local dealer to get the programming switch done.......They had no idea what I was talking about. Finally I got the number for the tech bulletin to enable the install and passed it to them. They finally got their update to their computer and figured out how to do it. Takes a good tech maybe 5 minutes. My dealer charged me $40.00 even after I helped them find out how to find and install the update. Some dealers have done it for no charge. I suppose it is the same for the 17's and up, mine is a 2016.

*****Also, a lot of people, including me, have just carefully pulled the two existing buttons straight back and then pushed them back on in the new location. I had ordered the two new buttons in case I had problems. It has been a long time and I have not had any problem with them coming lose. Hope this helps.****

I had the same experience at my dealer. They got it done very quickly and I have had no problems since. They even switched the buttons for me.

Costs about $75 at my dealer. Have the cruise control put on the right the way God intended it! Works great!
