How Much Can You Trust Harley Service People?
#11
This is a story about Honda dealer. Wife took CRV for free oil change. They did a multi point inspection, not requested part of oil change. They told her that it needed front brakes, air filter and cabin filter. This was on a Wednesday, the previous Sunday I replaced the air and cabin filters. They quoted her a price of $600.00 for all repairs and told her it was imperative to get it done now as it was a safety issue. She called me, I told her not to let them do anything except the oil change.
The Service manager called 2 hours after she got home to ask about the service and to request that I fill out the Honda survey with all 10’s. I had a conversation with him about the brakes and filters. He requested that he come to my house and look at the filters. By the time he got here 1/2 hour or so, I had the car jacked up and the wheels off to show him that the pads were 6/32 and did not require changing. He looked at the filters took pictures and gave me2 more free oil changes.
next time we took the car there he greeted me at the service managers desk and had him put on the slip no up sale.
This is a true story. The service manager no longer works at this dealer. The dealer is back to the same old games. I usually do my own oil changes, but they were doing it for less than I can buy the supplies for. Plus I was working, now retired will do my own work. Just like on the Harley.
