Looking to put lift on back of 5th wheel. Cheaper than trading in for toyhauler.
Trike is '98 Ultra with early Champion kit. Wheelbase is 54", fender to fender 56".
Thanks. Ken

That's a lot of weight to hang on the back of a trailer.
If it was me, I'd first contact the trailer manufacturer and get their input before proceeding.

Yes, called a Powersports dealer who does Hydralift installs. Said they recommend their product for Motorhomes only. 1000+ lbs. in back=1000 lbs. less on the pin weight.
Have always looked negatively on piggybacking, but looks like we will be looking at a 6×10 utility trailer to haul the trike behind the 5th.
Appreciate the reply and interest.
Thanks. Ken

If you intend to "piggyback" a trailer behind another trailer you need to check state laws where you plan to travel as some states do not allow this.

A toy hauler might be the best setup for your needs.

Don't go too small on that trailer. One thing, it needs more width so you don't damage that trike. It is much easier to load past the ramp cables with a 7 foot wide, and it is easier to see behind that 5th wheel.
Also about a 12 foot long, and you will thank yourself later for the clearance inside..

We’ve been pulling doubles for over 30 years and have never had a problem. My recommendation is to get an aluminum trailer so if have to disconnect to move around its much easier. We have a 7 x 10 and its perfect size for any bike. We have pulled in every state except Connecticut and Rhode Island. Been up the Coast highway in California several times. We always ask for a pull thru but in Sturgis last year we got a real nice site that was a back in that really liked.

+1 on this! I have a 6x10 v-nose. Wish I had at least a 6.5 width and 12ft.

If you go with a enclosed the 7 FT wide isn't a must but it is much better.

This is my 6x12, it's close. Note the pool noodles on the cables.

Iike me I have a Hitchhiker trailer. Built like a brick house. Even come with a factory hitch. I double towed for years with no problems. These new “Lite” trailer I’d never trust doing that.
