Default Help! Can't find neutral

Hi,

With 600 km of triking with my new Tri glide picked up on Monday, gotta say, frustrating that while engine is running, can not get the Trike in neutral. Course, neutral is where you need to be to reverse!

I can remedy the problem, by shutting off the engine, clicking easily into neutral, and slide I to reverse. But....um, it looks ridiculous! Everybody watches the Tri glide, so it's rather embarrassing to not be able to find neutral with engine running!

The dealership says it will loosen in time!

Please help!

With clutch handle pulled in all the way, move the trike a little back and forth with you right foot, while gentley shift to neutrual with your left foot. You will get use to finding it this way. It will be easier with time. keep in mind to MOVE/ROCK it a little. Good luck.

Wife had a little trouble at first also with neutral, seemed to get a little better with more miles . I put RedLine Shockproof in the tranny after 1k miles and that really helped.

As soon as you get the oil out of the primary and tranny and put in fresh your troubles will be gone!

Normally all HD's are tough to find neutral on when they are new. Once you get the 1,000 mile service done and the dealer adjust the clutch it should get better.

When new, the clutch cable will stretch with break in. When it is adjusted at the first service, your problem should disappear.

I had the same problem. It will get a little easier with miles but it still will be a prob.I saw a post on another trike site that said increasing the rpm's by about 300 when you shift it into neutral helps.I tried that and it did help somewhat too.

I've never had that problem, Dealer needs to adjust clutch properly to much play in cable (1/16 inch no more) bearing rod 3/4 to 1 turn backed out from snug . Always used HD plus tranny and primary lube.

I also had the same frustration finding neutral at first, even with the rocking back and forth did not help much. I also resorted to shutting engine off and found neutral that way.
I read here on the forum about using REDLINE heavy in the tranny and man, what a difference! It shifted so smoothly in every gear and almost felt like I didn't need to pull the clutch in. And finding neutral was so easy after that first 1000 mile service.
These folks in this forum are a boatful for information, thanks guys and gals!
