Personally I'm stuck on the TTS100 cam. Just my preference that fits the way I ride.

OK, first recommendation... There is no need to hit the limiter. Rethink this 3 grand and consider 2300 RPM and above, shift at 4000 and you will be fine. Once you change cams you will feel a HUGE difference and shift by feel.

You still want to know what cams work best. For me it is the TTS100. Second place for a TriGlide is the Andrews 57H. But... Find someone in your area that can tune using the PCV or any cam work will be wasted.

Oh.. if you want your user name changed to something else besides your email address let me know. People usually don't use email for ID here.

Mr. Wizard thank you for your response. I will definitely consider everything you mentioned. I think I posted this in the wrong forum though I didnt realize it was for tri glides.

I should probably take the email part off haha I didt even realize. I am fairly new to the forum thing.

The TG isn't that much different than the two wheel touring so you still should consider what you read here.

In about 10 minutes I'm going to change your user name to RDowns2016

Default Another CAM thread

Anyone use the H.D. MoCo SE8-447 TORQUE CAM with the Stage III upgrade instead of the SE8-498 POWER CAM. The Torque Curve with the 447 so much better fits my riding style and Trike loading than does the 498 Horse Power RPM curve. My dealership Service Advisor feels the 498 is better. However, I am not a Freeway Highspeed High RPM driver. On my last Bike with Stage III had a 255 Torque CAM and the combination was great.

Looking for your thoughts or experience.

On the Tri Glide and other heavy motorcycles you need to look more towards the torque cam rather than horsepower. With the extra weight the torque will help you through the complete RPM range. That torque should also carry through to the upper RPM's . As long as you can get.
That being the needed objective look for a cam that starts out as low an rpm as you can get. Not that you will be utilizing the big gain below 2000RPM, but the torque needs to be available for the lower ranges when you demand it and not just in the mid to upper RPM ranges. TTS also makes a good cam for the M8's, from what I have read. Worth a good look.
Another thing to look at is the problem with pinging many big cams cause. That 225 cam has that problem. Very picky on the tune and gas ! It also fell on its face in the upper RPM's.

Sloufoot,
Thanks much for your comments. Your thinking is right in line with mine. I will be adamant with Hight Desert Harley Service that I want to stay with the SE8-447 CAM that is already installed in my Trike. I am not at all interested in the SE8-498 CAM.
