Default Pricing on older VRods

I'm going to jump back in to V Rod ownership. I briefly owned an 03 and HATED those forward pegs (I'm 5'7") So I'm thinkin a mid peg model either a Street Rod or Night Rod, 06 and up.

I'm seein prices all over the board, don't want to over pay, lookin at an 06 NR which NADA retail ranges from 4600-6100. I'm thinkin I should be able to buy a decent 06 in the 5000 range right now in this slow market and winter as well. He wants 6250, which I'm not comfortable with. If I ride a little and want to sell it, I don't want to take a 1000+ hit on it.

I'd value your opinions on this, thanks

To the best of my knowledge, the only mid-control VRods were the '06-'07 VRSCR Street Rods. These are real sleepers, with different rake and trail on the front forks, different brakes, and better lean angles.

I've never seen one of these for sale for much less than around $6k, minimum.

They actually made an 05 VRSCB mid peg, same original VRod with mid pegs, then in 06 a Sreeet Rod and a Night Rod, both with mid peg controls but the street Rod had the inverted forks and a 5 Gal tank. The night Rod had some styling updates a mini fairing and a 3 Gal tank. It was the entry level in 06 at 14999.

Unfortunately they are not popular so selling it a year or two down the road will be time consuming and you will likely not get what you paid back out of it. That is the bad news.

The good news is you are on the other end of that equation right now as the buyer. Not a desirable bike and the prices show, if this guy won't lower his price walk away and have patience and the right bike will pop up. Buddy of mine had one, he traded it in for a Road King for under $2k, I told him after I would have given him the $2k just because.

Get to negotiating.

Architect; That's what I'm thinkin, I'm seein 06 Street Rods at HD dealers ASKING 5995
Guy's bike is nice, 8K miles and stock or I wouldn't even be interested. It's still got the stock tires as well which will need replaced soon. 5K is all the money on this one (if that)
Thanks for your input!

Ah-ha! I learned something new! Thanks for the info.

You know what's amazing: the new MSRP prices. $15k in '06, and not much different in '17. However, $15k in '06, adjusted for inflation, is approximately $18.5k by the end of the V Rod's run. So, they were selling them at a continually increasing discount. One of the reasons they were dropped, I'm guessing.

The reason they quit selling them is because V-Rods were not selling in the U.S.A. I have owned four of them. In my opinion, the best Harley has ever produced. I now I am in the minority. The 06-08 Night Rod’s have mid controls, along with 2 year production run of the Street Rods. The 06-08 Night Rod’s pretty rare. If I could get a decent price for my Dyna, I’d buy a Night Rod without hesitation.

Get a 08 and up just for the upgrades, 1250cc, slipper clutch, bigger battery, larger fuel tank. And can be fitted with factory mid controls.
