Great bike. DO NOT ride it like an air-cooled Harley. Wind it out, use the 10K rpm's. It's a beast, best platform HD ever built to date. It's also a hole shot masterpiece because of the long wheel base and rake.

I agree 100%. It seems unnatural to run a Harley at that RPM, but it lives to run at that end of of the RPM gauge...

Good luck on your purchase.

I just picked up a 2014 vrod muscle - it is freaking awesome! I wish i would have pulled the trigger much sooner and I am very disappointed that the moco did not work harder to promote this bike. It is the best engine they have ever put in their bikes.

Only common complaints I've seen are lousy fuel gauge and short lifespan of the rear tire.

Ya, that one always slays me. You buy a non-essential, luxury item and complain about gas mileage??????

Im going to update my OP again- since i got more hits on this thread today- and yes,i never understood about anyone complaining about gas mileage either. I just wanted to know if there were any known "issues" with components on vrods - things to look out for when purchasing one.
My own vrod shopping has come to an end for this year- as a medical condition has limited my riding to near zero. Hopefully to be fully recovered by the spring (please god,i hope!!!)
Winter has come early here- its already dropping below freezing at night- so im going to hibernate like a bear and come back strong in the spring- i still got my eyes on a 2009 nightrod- im hoping the dude selling gets no offers- and its waiting for me when the snow melts! I'll keep my fingers crossed!!
