It's the wild colour scheme that freaks me. When you try and operate one of these weird black controls that are labelled in black on a black background a small black light lights up black to let you know you've done it. -- Douglas Adams

Sounds good, are you going to Powdercoat the bars on it now or get new ones? I changed mine out to Harleys flat track bar from the sportsters, i needed to buy some VRSCD cables but they are a lot comfier than stock for me and theyre already black.

those are toxic choppers vlux pipes right ?

Im going to have to wait till winter to powdercoat the shift and brake levers, i dont want the bike out of commission for any period of time and im too cheap to buy a new set.

whats that blue sticker on your Master cylinder on your bars or is that just the protective sticker?

Yes going to powder coat the bars, and a skull horn cover when I buy it. Both will be dust black also. Throwing arond the idea of powder coating the screens that are silver also. But that may be a little much.

Yes their Toxic pipes, I saw them on Ebay and watched the yotube video and fell in love with the sound. Do you know anything about them, never heard anything about Toxic, and have talk to the guy over the phone. Price for the pipes, power commander, maping loaded on it, Baffels (removable), and all maounting hardwear and stuff is about the same for what it would cost me to get supper trap pipes on. But like the sound of the V-lux better. So any help on info about these pies would be great. Relly just wanted a big radies style pipes on her.

Yes the blue sticker is theprotective sticker, forgot to take it off. Unless I shouldn't, IDK please let me know if it's ok to do so.

I have dealt with toxic personally however i did not go through with it. I was looking at the Turbine for my bike in the ceramakrome coating, but once i saw one mounted on a DX i changed my mind, its too small, but i do like the vluxes, and big rigs. I dunno who you talked to, but I talked to a guy named scott, very personable and knowledgeable but I have heard some good and bad things about them, but nothing bad recently and several of their pipes shipped out. And yes those supertraps are a rip off, but if you like the current setup you could try the slipons for the DX at www.tabperformance.com they have several different styles at around 279.00$ for the most expensive ones. But those toxic pipes look cool and will set your bike apart from the rest ( as if it dosent do that already )

I am 90000000% with you on getting the sidecover inserts powdered dust black to match the denim. Ive seen a bunch of rattle can jobs on the inserts and they look really good but dust black P/C should look absotively nuts. Why not do all the inserts while your at it, like the one on the coolant hose and the one on the other side, final drive cover, i think its called but im probably wrong. And possibly the shift linkage too its kinda was kinda annoying to me but now that its covered it blends in very well.

I'm a monochromatic kinda guy myself and found a set of stock vivid black sidecovers from other vrod models with the vents so i could get the entire bike in gloss they should be in later next week, i also came across a way to get gloss pipes from a guy in the sportster section that im going to try soon. Im addicted to gloss black as im sure your addicted to denim black now.

I took the sticker off its silver and black underneath it looks a bit better than blue on the DX in my opinion.

have you considered vinyl on the upper forks? its cheap and looks good.

Well I think I am going to give Toxic a try.

Yea may do all the screens black also, but the shift linkage- I talk to the guy doing the powder coating and he said, if I remove the rubber barrens that are in the end for the screws, I will be screwed. As their is no one he knows that sells them after market and harley doesn't sell them either. He said to spry paint it. IDK about that one.

As for pipes I really don't want slip ons, and what bad things did you hear about Toxic, please let me know before I buy these pipes.

Getting the pipes in a timely manner was the main problem i have been hearing about, people think its because they use a coating company in wisconsin and sometimes pipes are backordered because they are made to order. so it may take a bit of time, the quality of the product seems good though.

A company called joker sells a black shift linkage for the vrod. my temp fix was a single piece of electrical tape the length of the shift linkage but it dosent cover the joints on either end it has held up so far but it'll get done right someday. check out the under 50$ mod thread down the page a bit or on the next one, not sure, its well worth it.

Well that doesn't sound cool, but I guess if the pipes are made to order it's understandable. We will just have to wait and see.

Checked out the Joker linkage, didn't like it all that much, guess I will just keep looking.
