Their have been several updates to the V-Rod over the years, some of them are transmission forks, wheel tire size, battery, fuel tank, engine size and clutch just to name a few.
Are their any V-rod year models to stay away from ???? problems with that year model, etc etc etc...
Looking at maybe being able to swing a used v-rod payment...Thanks for all help..
Depends what you want. There was some minor problems with the first few years something with the fuel delivery that's pretty easily corrected... and the pre-brembo breaks kind of suck...
If you want Anodized go for it... otherwise I'd recommend an 06 with Brembos/last year of aluminum tins and all around lighter bike... I'd go for 06 or 08/09... but they are all great.
If I was going to buy a V-rod right now, I would buy an orange 05 SE, swap out for Brembos, put in a Rick's tank, and do a budget 240. You got the best of everything -- or you could get an 06 SE and just add the bigger fuel tank, but I prefer the 05's looks better.

They are still way overpriced...
I'd get an 08 or later if you want something with forwards, 07 if you want a Street Rod
...maybe an 06 with brembos...
Beyond that, I'd look for something beyond "stock".
The qouted project could cost you 20k+ all said and done... there was an 05 locally here that just sold for 20k... it was purple though... all stock...
...you could find a nice modded, pretty loaded 06ish V for around 10...
