Has anybody trade a roadking for a Vrod and if yes was it a wise decision ? what were your first impressions/feelings once moved to the vrod performance ?
Iam asking this because I currently owning a roadking custom 05 but Iam very tempting to trade or sell it and get a night rod special . The roadking serves me good especially in the long distance trips here in Europe but Iam getting sick and tired with the oil leaks and this and that etc.
The only thing that prevents me for selling it is the emotional part as it was my first harley and the fact that I have spend money on accessories which you will never get back.

A friend and I rented two v-rods for a day and put about 350 miles on them. They were a blast as far as performance. Great in the twistys! However, the next day, Dave was glad to be back on his Road King and I was glad to be on my Road Glide. I guess I am big on the comfort part!
John... Ride a Road King and a Night Rod Special here. The answer, really, is it depends. If the only reason you want to switch is the RK's "oil leaks and this and that", then I'm not sure the NRS is better for you. What kind of rides you have in mind? Passengers? OK with being out in the wind? Does the NRS offer the ergos you're looking for? To be sure the NRS is a blast, but its focus is more narrow than the RK's.
As for comfort, it should be pretty obvoius by my avatar how our bike is used when I'm not doing the daily grind.
Definately ride the DX and any other V-rod you can find.

No ! for sure the only reason is not the oil leaks (also my streetbob is leaking oil so Iam used...)- in reality I love the slim looks of the DX and any other v rod and what I am looking for is pure performance in short and long distance trips (max 800 km per day) through out the year.
Passenger capacity is not so critical as my wife rides with me only in short in town distances.
Ergo in terms of things to carry is not needed as I never carry with me so much stuff and can be also easily solved in the vrod (the secret to this is that in big family trips my wife always accompanies me by driving the car so all the extra crap is in the car.. I love my wife)
So taking all these into consideration I could imagine myself riding an NRS .

John... Then given this you will find the DX to be an exhilarating ride. Would note I've owned two V-Rods over the past six years and have had zero problems. Nothing. Would also mention there's something about being on a cruiser with some giddy-up and go.
A V-rod in Greece? I'm jealous. Best I got to ride in Athens was a Vespa and I was missing my SR500 back then. I would much rather have a D or an R in that part of the world than a DX, but that's just me.
I actually bought an 07 DX last year while I still had my 04 Road King Custom. I thought I would keep both but found myself always riding the DX so I figured it was time to sell the RKC. I personally love the DX and to be honest it's the speed/handling that you just don't get on the bagger that makes it so much fun (for me). The DX is my 4th bike and by far my favorite to ride, just a blast to twist the throttle and rip it. I do miss the bags as I always ride with a backpack now, but a small complaint for the smile I get every time I twist the throttle and roll down the road.
