I'm getting an NRS and some say that the NRS doesn't sound like a real Harley. So, what changes if any would you make to the NRS Exhaust to make is sound more like a Harley?

The NRS is an awesome bike but it's not going to sound like any traditional H-D. When I had mine, I went with Supertrapp Fatshots. With 12 disks installed they sounded great and were easy to install. A 2-1 system like the rinehart is going to give you the best performance (stock exhaust is 2-1-2) after a good tune but most are crazy loud. Every post I've ever read on installing a 2-2 exhaust on a v-rod resulted in 10-15hp loss. 1130cc.com is a great Forum for v-rod info; check it out. Don't get me wrong, an exhaust change isn't going to make it sound like a jap bike but don't expect it to sound like a twin cam either.

The V&H Indy is what I have. It sounds and looks great. It sounds like a twin-cam (almost) when you're in that RPM range, but of course idles higher, and I mostly drive around with the engine over 5k.

I wouldn't buy this pipe again. It didn't create big power (couple extra ponies), and it ate up a punch on lean angle on the right. But for looks and sound, it can't be beat. Many people love it.

I currently own a 08 NRS and they are right about a stock sounding V-rod. That was the first thing that I changed on mine. This is my current set-up.

These additions made me very, very happy. The bike produced the sound that I was looking for and it also still had a ton of power for me. I would say the bike is at a 7 out of 10 for loudness. The cops do leave me alone. Just don't rod on the thing when they are around. I would highly recommend this set up to anybody. I'm a strong believer in putting on full exhaust systems versus slip on mufflers. There was a guy who put his V-rod on Youtube so you can here the BUB exhaust under BUB Jug exhaust.
