Default cant find a gas tank for a 98 road king

i'm looking for an oem gas tank for a 1998 road king flhr. with carborator. i want to replace my original tank and I can only use a tank from a 1998-2000. after checking the Harley parts #, they have 1 primed in stock, for $1200. so that's a no. I did have the dealer look it up for the hell of it, and he said they have it listed, but no one even has it. ive been on ebay, but its a little confusing since everyone says their tank fits a 98, even if it came off a 2012. which I'm sure they do with the right modifications. I saw 2 tanks from a 2000 electra glide, but the people selling it don't know if the bike had a carb, or fuel injected. i'm just trying to find the original tank, with no dents that I can just paint & put on without any mods.
any ideas?

I have seen places that buy old/wrecked bikes and part them out. I don't have specific names but I have seen them. Maybe a Google search would turn them up.
There's also Craig's list and swap meets...

You will need a tank off a road king if you want to retain the original style. You could use the tank off of an Electra Glide or Road Glide, but then you would need to get the trim piece to fill the seat gap, and a new console.
This should work with direct fit:

You can also try to contact pinwall cycles. They are an ebay seller that salvages bikes.

Since you have a carb then it should not be a huge challenge.
Ebay has a few options.
What exactly is wrong with the tank you have right now?
