Default Hello from Garner NC

This is my first post to this site. I've been hanging around for a month now. While growing up I had dirt bikes, a Honda custome 500 ,a yahama street and trail bike and rode a friends Sportster for a couple years. I use to run with a "group" that had the old panheads and shovel heads with suicide shifters and wore their Harley chains as their belts. That was years ago. My nieghbor recently bought a used Yahama VStar, I climbed on it,fired it up and that did it for me. I told my wife I was thinking about getting a bike. Respectfully I asked her opinion since she is the reasonable person in the family. I was expecting her to say you don't need a bike or you will kill yourself on it or something negative about it. She said I think it will be exciting,go for it,get what you want. It's like I hit the easy button. I began my search, wouldn't even go to a Harley dealership because I knew that would do it. I researched the Honda's and Yahama's and decided based upon price that I would get the 09 Yahama Raider. I got everything done and when ready to sign the paperwork I was began hearing my reasonable, sensible wife saying the words "get what you want".I walked away. I went to the dealership in Raleigh and bought the 09 Fatbob, have added a winshield, luggage rack, engine guard bars and going today to get a new seat so she will be more comfortable while we ride. (It's all about her now). If Momma is happy, everyone is happy. I've put about 1k miles on it so far and we are taking a road trip to visit my daughter and son-in law at Canp Lejeune this weekend.
Thanks for all the posts so far that have got me back in the swing of things. Alot of helpful advice here. I am still looking for a easier way to get the traditional sound of the Harley without investing 1k into it and without voiding the warranty.
Be safe.
Ncsportsman.

Welcome, neighbor, from Fuquay Varina. I ride with a guy who lives in Garner. He rides (the $h!t out of) a Yamaha Warrior. I used to live over off of Vandora Springs Road so I'm familiar with your area. Here's an event coming up soon in your area that you might wanna check out. I'm gonna try to make it to it:

Scootworks Open House & Street Party
Scootworks BikeFest '09, Zebulon NC
Saturday July 25th, 2009
9am-3pm
Rain Date - Saturday August 1st, 2009

On Saturday July 25th, 2009 from 9am until 3pm, Scootworks will hold another Open House and Street Party. We have held many of these over the last 11 years, with each growing in size and activity level. This event will celebrate several things.. It commemorates our 11th year of business, it showcases our newest capabilities with our new CNC machine shop, and and is also a grand opening for another of our on-site projects.

There will be loads of food, a custom bike show, bike wash, airbrush & pinstriping artists, an on-site Tattoo shop by Four Kingz Tattoo, killer discounts on everything, prize giveaways throughout the day, DJ, and much more. We'll have tours of our manual & CNC shops, metal fab, custom paint, and other areas of Scootworks that you don't normally get to visit. Click the links to the left to have a look at some of the activities, and mark your for this fun event!
