Need new tires , Both sizes fit, is there an advantage / preference to go with either a 140/90/B16 or a 130/90/B16?

(Thinking about Michelin Commanders BTW)

The 140 will give a slightly wider contact patch and fill the rear fender a bit, that is how I would do it if in your situation.

The 140/90 will also be a little larger in diameter. Some tyre brands do an MU or equivalent, which is 140/85 and pretty well the same diameter as the stock MT.

Before you spend your money however check your current tyre to belt/guard clearance. On my 1990 Glide I had to trim the rubber part of the belt guard and only had 3/16" total clearance. Unfortunately installed width can vary from the nominal size (my 140/90 was only 139mm wide, but others are reported as being wider) and also differs from brand to brand.
