Default buying tires for my new wheels but there is contaversy

So its time for tires on mt 02 stock heritage but this time around, Im going with a 21 x 3.5 chrome wheel up front and a 18 x 4.25 on the rear. Ive read several places that a 160 rear wheel would not fit but the 150 would with ease. Has anyone seen a 160 on a heritage?

As for the front does anyone have any recommendations as to what size would be best. I do have charts but wanted to see if anyone has any first hand theories.

Thanks in advance

It doesn't matter which big twin model, all of them from the era of your bike have the same challenge. There are two limitations on installing non-standard tyre widths, fender width and clearance between tyre and belt. Your rear fender isn't much wider than most 160 tyres, so getting one in your bike is a gamble! As for your drive belt, if you have the 1 1/2" wide belt then in my experience the widest tyre you can get in is a 140. I've read that a 150 will fit, but the only way I got mine in was by changing over to a narrower belt and rear pulley.

What does your wheel supplier recommend? If you don't get any satisfaction with them or in here, post in the Softail section, where you should get more hits.

For the front you want to run a 120/70-21 tire. On the back the widest you can run is a 150....been there, done that. As mentioned, with your 1.5" belt your clearance issue lies there. A 150 tire is damn close to the belt too, but it works.
