I don't like whitewalls, but I love Avon Cobras! As for which is 'better', I can't say, that depends on what other qualities you are looking for. Avons give excellent grip in all conditions and a compliant ride for comfort.

My impression is that Avon is more expensive, higher performance but not as long lasting. So if you want a good long lasting tire at a good price, Dunlop is better. If you want better grip are not price sensitive and do not care if you have to replace your tires sooner, Avon is better.

Is that a fair summary?

Avon = looks and performance
Dunlop = mileage
Metzeler = A good compromise between them all

We offer a tire discount to forum members if you decide on one...

Gotta disagree with mileage on AVONS. If u use AVONS recommended air pressure ( higher) u will get very good mileage. Just paid 240. For 2 tires shipped to my shop. Motorcycle super store. 17,000 miles out of set front could have gone couple thousand more. No cupping and stuck like glue in rain,dry,mud,slop,salt and ice. Maybe a touch of snow. All on a heavy ultra .wont get a Dunlop to do that

Wet or iffy road conditions and a tire that sticks like a cat on the carpet... Avons. Had Dumblops break loose on me when they shouldn't have, couldn't give me one those again.

Avon Cobras have a 15K mileage warranty and roadhazard replacement program that can't be beat ..... Avon replaced a tire with a screw in it for free earlier this year! Ask Dunlop if they will do that ...
