Default Wheel Bearing Size Comparison

Hey, I have a 2007 Harley Wide Glide and all of my bolts that connect the pulley to the rear rim sheared off, and of course damages the hub of the spoked rim. Didn't want to replace the hub and re-lace the rim. I found other rims off of a 2011 Harley Glide that I want and bought them, same size I need and everything except for the axle size and the spacers. I am going to be putting 1" ID x 52mm OD bearings in the hub of the 2011 rims to accommodate for my 1" axle, my question is, what is the better width to go with, the 15mm or the 21mm? I have access to both. If I go with the 1"x52mmx15mm bearings I don't believe I'll have to alter the spacers and for the 1"x52mmx21mm bearings, I will have to alter the spacers. Will the hub of the 2011 rims accept the 21mm without the bearing going past the hub? Also, apparently the 21mm bearings have 2 rows of rollers where the 15mm bearings have 1 row. Some say it's an upgrade going to 21mm wide from 15 mm wide in the 25mm ID bearings, so I would assume that the hub will accept a 21mm width.

Thank you, and correct me if I'm wrong with any of this information!

It's almost like Deja Vu ...Basically same question just a few days ago
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/wheel...d-of-help.html

So I'll repost...

Two solutions:

1. Get 1" ID x 15mm wide bearings (it's the same width as the 25mm bearing) and still use the 08-later spacer sleeve.
The Overall bearings/sleeve width will be slightly (.020-.035") narrower and positioned differently than your 06 but most people wouldn't even notice

OR

2. Use those 21mm wide bearings "proud" (with 08-later spacer sleeve) and cut your original wheel spacers down (or make new ones)

I'll also add as a "Myth Buster" that the 21mm wide bearings are NOT double row contrary to what some think, but I still consider them an upgrade because of double seals per side

Whoops, I didn't realize this question was already asked! So, from what I read on the other thread is that you would probably suggest going with the 21mm wide bearing if one was comfortable with the spacers? I have all of the spacers off of the 2007 wheel, but only the centre spacer off of the 2011 wheel. This is just a guess but if I use all of the spacers from the 2007 rim in the 2011 rim with the 21mm wide bearing, would that work, or would I still have to alter the spacers? I need to use the outer spacers anyway, unless I make my own, and I want to assume that the centre hubs are the same size in both rims.

The 2007 center spacer is too short for the 2011 wheel because of the different bearing bore depths...so not listed as a solution

It's 1 or 2

3rd option is to by a 25mm axle and use 25mm bearings and spacer.
