I just reinstalled stock enforcer front wheel on 2014 street glide. The wheel was chromed and the stock rotors polished. With the bike up on the stand the wheel will not turn freely when turned by hand. Am I missing something here? Is this normal? The only thing I did that was different or changed was the wheel that's on the 14SG came off of my 15SG. I did let HD dealership install the bearings and sleeve on the chromed rim. Will it turn more freely after i put some miles on it?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do you have ABS?

Are your rotors are in the center of the calipers?
If they are centered, retract your pads and spin again (while pads are retracted)

If not centered, answer the ABS question above

 

I do not have ABS. They look centered. How do you retract pads?

 

One way...
-Remove the brake fluid reservoir cover to monitor fluid level and ensure there's room for incoming fluid (remove fluid as necessary).
-Remove the caliper mounting bolts and move the calipers around the rotors until clear of the mounts. Gently twist, push, pull caliper against the rotor until pads are fully away from the rotor.
-Remount caliper. Repeat on other side
*Keep monitoring brake fluid level to avoid spill-over (maybe get a helper to watch)

Spin wheel...anything rubbing?

If no, after setting reservoir cover back on start applying brake until pads are against rotor. DO NOT allow reservoir to run dry.

Spin the wheel...any better than the original rubbing?


NOTE: You may want to clean your caliper piston area if very dirty before trying to push pistons back and for further proper operation

 

First of all, THANKS! Followed directions above, and it rotated 100% better. I could still hear the brake pads and rotors touching somewhat. (I know this is normal.) When I pumped the brake it went back to being difficult to spin. (Maybe 1/2 a turn. Any other suggestions? I was thinking after reading many post that maybe this is normal. I just want to make sure since it is my wife bike. When I installed my 21 inch wheel on my street glide it didn't turn as freely as it should, but I would at least get 1 1/2 -2 full spins.

Double check the rotor is centered within these two surfaces (you can see from front). I'm bringing it up again because you have had the bearing replaced and want you to confirm proper install.

Yes, freely turn front wheel, I want.

 

I put the original wheel and rotors that came off the bike and it did the same thing. It looks like I'm getting a little drag from the brake pads. I lifted my bike up on stand for a comparison and the 21 inch wheel turn a little bit better but almost the same. I noticed the rotors are not dead centered like the above picture, but it's just a little off.
