rosshog talks of changing his tyre a few years ago, but the Cobra hasn't been out very long, so I suspect his previous tyre was actually a Venom and the replacement is a Cobra. While the Cobra is a direct replacement it is a new design of tyre, hence may not be identical in fitted width.

Whatever brand we buy when fitting over-sized tyres we run the same risk! It would be an interesting excercise to try the same size tyre from the leading brands on the same wheel rim, to measure the variations across them. The Cobra 250 is described as being 251mm wide - reasonably close!

Metzeler lists their Tire Width "installed" on various acceptable rim widths
