Default Discontinued front wheel

I've got the 5 spoke brushed chrome wheels on my 08 Heritage Softail, I recently had to replace my front bearings. On the inside of the wheel you could see where the axle had worn into the wheel. Anyway I put the new bearings in and within a hundred miles the new bearings have went bad. I called about the wheel and found that it has been discontinued. My question is is there a way to repair the wheel with a insert or sleeve?? Can't afford to replace one wheel let a less both wheels. Any info would be great!

Do you have some good pics?

How many miles did the previous set of bearings last? Did they fail the same way?

Without seeing it, I would say a competent Machine Shop should be able to fix you up

Wink

The axle doesn't touch the wheel anywhere. Are you talking about the hole through the wheel, between the bearings? If so it is the bearing spacer that has rubbed the wheel. A local machine shop can probably open up that central hole a little, to provide clearance.

I have a Deuce rear wheel on my Glide, which I installed 1" bearings in. The hole through the hub was for a 3/4" bearing spacer and I had that hole machined out to clear a 1" spacer. There was plenty of metal to enable me to do that.
