I want to do away with tubed tire
Hello the other day I had a flat on front of my 1999 fxst. I had installed the tires myself. First harley by the way and loving it. So anyhow I carry c02 and plugs which would get me outta a tight spot on the rear but no help on the tubes front. I had to ride 5miles on a flat on a gravel road. As I got home and pulled tire down there were no punchers in the tire and the tube had a scab looking part with the hole that looks like I pinched it on Assembly. I had a new tube on hand and pinched and patched both tubes till I was tired. I can not service this small of a tubed tire myself. And being a technician for most of my life I do not run anything I can't service myself. So what front wheel can be used from another bike to change to a tubeless style wheel? I have seen some on fleabay but don't know what would work or not. Also has anyone tried the tubeless conversion tape on a spoked 21 front wheel? Thanks

Thanks for the advice I was nervous about trying that tape crap with it being front. And I did have a new tube and rim strip put on at my local (2hour drive) Harley dealership. Would still like to go to a mag style wheel when finances allow.

Post up any wheels you're interested in, if you're interested in fitment

For an easy 21" swap, look for a 1999-earlier front wheel from a FX softail or a Dyna Wide Glide (FXDWG). They will have a Tapered Roller Wheel Bearing with separate grease seal (as opposed to the 2000-later Sealed Ball Bearing Assy)

I would suggest NOT using that wheel. I think you're asking for trouble. Several issues you would have to overcome...Old style "Clover" Smaller diameter brake disc and narrow hub to name a couple.
As to using a 19" wheel and the dropping of the front-end...the Outside diameter of a 19" tire (100/90-19) is about approx 3/4" smaller than the 21" (MH90-21 or 80/90-21). So it would drop it half of that or approx 3/8".
If you find a 19" Mag, it will most likely be a "Thinner" hubbed Narrowglide or Midglide wheel instead of your Wideglide wheel/hub. You would need a Rotor spacer and some custom wheel/axle spacers.
You could probably open up your search to newer sealed bearing wheels if you are going to deal with those spacing issues along with using the later disc rotor.

thanks for for the info. I had rather do a simple bolt on than trips to the machine shop. I will look for a wheel in the year model you suggested. I'm not scared of having to measure or have custom spacers made but the bike is my only transportation for the next month maby longer. Which is also why I'm so worried about having another flat. I live 2 miles down gravel road so flats are going to be inedible.
