I had Dunlops on my last bike, switched to Avons and it was a huge difference, I put them on my other bike afterwards, and will do the same when my Fat Boy needs tires. Best Tires I've had.

Its not just a brand v brand thing. Dunlop makes a variety of tires and so does Avon. Where I live, Avon tends to carry a $ubstantial premium over Dunlop. My OEM Dunlops just stank. I'm happy as a clam with my E3's. Same brand but entirely different tires. I like it that my Dunlops are American made.

I’m going with Dunlops because that’s what my Indy has in stock.I got 14000 out of the oem tires and I didn’t realize how cupped they were.Ive been happy with the elites on another bike.

American elites on a batwing will be dancy and will wear out early,, I burned one up in 4200 miles on an 07 EGC E3s give the best mileage (as do CIIs) but don't corner as well. E4s are pretty good balance between cornering and life.. I think these will be the bagger tire I use for early TC baggers with 16x3 inch rims. Avons are good but last only as long as the elites and turn to snot on tar snakes when ambient temps get much above 100F. Way worse than any other tire. On an 06 FLHTCU, I'd try the E4s if you like good handling. E3s or CIIs if you are more of a tourer.

I run the Avons on my Dyna, It's a toss up between the Avons and the Dunlops for the FL's.

I don't like them. Too quiet with baffles, sound like crap without baffles.
