Snapped bolt in caliper
So, I was all excited to get my wheels back on, first time by the way, after getting new tires. I was torqueing the rear caliper and thought hmmm this is taking quite a bit. Just then, the bolt snapped. I then realized that I was also torqueing the bolt that holds the caliper together, there's three of them. Instead of the bolts that hold the caliper to the bracket. I tried drilling it out but it's not budging. How important do you thing the center bolt is? It's still in there. I think I know the answer so my next question is, how much does a new caliper run?

I would try taking it to a local machine shop and see if they can get it out.

Model and year of bike would help. A lot of us have changed calipers and extras lying around.

Where did it break at? ... If you split the caliper into Halves would there be any "Nub" sticking out from the casting?

I broke the center bolt. I never thought about taking the other two out. Would the caliper split into half if all three were out then?

If the Head is gone on the center....then removing the other Two would allow you to split it...that's how you "Rebuild" Calipers

Got it apart but the drill bit made it worse. I think I'm headedd to the dealer to buy a $200 caliper. Expensive dumb mistake.

I'm in the Detroit metro area so we do have alot of machine shops but I think I messed it up too much. I may get a used one on eBay.
