I wouldn’t do it. New tires are a whole lot cheaper than hospital and funeral bills. I don’t even like running plugged tires on my cage but at least it probably won’t throw me in the ditch if one blows out. I had a motorcycle tire blowout on the interstate once. Thank God I wasn’t killed but it sure made a believer out of me. I won’t ride (or drive) on bad tires if I can help it.

I was on my way home from a trip , 300 miles to go and got a puncher in the tread area, tire only had 1200 miles on it , just replaced it a couple months before. It started getting mushy on the slab so I pulled off. It was almost flat 200 feet from the off ramp , spitting ride -on all over. I plugged and monitored it to get home , it held a steady 40 psi all the way home, even 2 weeks later it was 40 psi. As much as I hated to buy another new tire I did , I also didn't worry about it once it was replaced , it was worth it to me.

As Yammy mentioned.

I have a tire machine and I patch a hole in the tread from the inside. I have a tire on one of my bikes right now that's patched from the inside; I'm just not throwing a good tire away. If an internal repair is done correctly, you have a better chance of dying because of high cholesterol.

If I ever get a hole in a tire I’m bringing it to your house. I wouldn’t be afraid at all to run one that was patched from the inside but I’d be scared to death riding on a tire with a plug in it.

I would my friend.

Tires are critically important. Even when just riding around town.

If u r having trouble making the $350 (I thnk u said), PM me, and I will help u offset the cost.

You don't screw around with tires. Be frugal elsewhere but not with tires. Your life is riding on them.

Thanks everyone for your input. It's the back tire by the way. The $340 was at the dealership and the first place I called. I'll call around and find a better deal I'm positive. I'll get a new tire and be done with it.

I agree with this,a small nail hole patched from the inside Imho will cause no effect on the integrity of the tire.Side wall is a different animal, and a no,Or you can tube it

Good decision mate. I strongly support that. And you know something DG my friend, to have "peace of mind" alone makes it worth it IMHO.

Way to go!! Enjoy it...........

Did this Thread start in another section and then get moved to "Wheels/Tires" ? ...just wondering...has the "Markings"

I'm glad for your mental battle that you're changing it (+ plus you do have 5200 miles already), but....
