Question Mixing radial and bias ply tires

I learned growing up that is was not safe to mix radial and bias ply tires. It seems all but one aftermarket tire company (that I can find) offers my front tire (150/80-16) in a bias and rear (180/70-16) in a radial. With the technology now-a-days is it OK to mix them?

Not just newer bikes. My 08 Rocker and 09 CVO Springer both came with radial rear/bias front from the factory. But we are talking about wide low profile 40 series rear tires on them. I'd have to do a little more research on a taller high profile 70 series before I would be sold on the idea.

Size is irrelevant...

I'm sure all tire manufacturers addressed this issue in their Documentation at some point in the past, but Avon still does with "Blanket" statements (regardless of sizing) to the same effect of that IF Mixing Bias/Radial, then "Bias Front / Radial Rear" is OK
