Default New Tires

I recently bought a used 2014 Road King. I think it would look a lot nicer with white walls on it. I previously, (back in the early 2000's), had a Honda VTX 1800. The stock rear rim on the VTX allowed for a slightly wider tire. Can a wider than stock tire be mounted on the stock rear rim of the 2014 Road King? If so, what size can I go with?

Thanks

You're mixing up two topics here - white walls and a wider tyre! White walls tend to be made for stock sizes of tyres, to get the biggest take-up and you should have no difficulty finding them. Some members use a 200 wide rear tyre, but I suspect you will have difficulty finding a white wall in that size. As your query is very much a Touring one I suggest you look around in the Touring section, where you will find a lot of discussion on tyres.

Yeah. I found out that the stock size is a 180. I'm fine with that. I also found some good deals on some Metzler 888 white walls in my stock size. I had Metzlers on my last bike, and liked them. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Much appreciated.

You've got a 16x5 rim on the Back. That will limit you in a wider tire (WW or Not) ... A 200 is not recommended for a 5" rim. You can can get a 190 from Avon (NOT WW) that is "allowed" on your 5" Rim ... maybe other brands of that size are available

People going wider than 180 will typically use a wider Rim.

My advice ... stick with the 180 ... (Blackwall or WW )
