Sport touring tires on 17 rims
Im lacing up 17 aluminum rims to my stock dyna hubs for weight savings, the improved braking a 17 front will give me over a 19 and to be able to run a wider variety of tires. Anyone here try this? Im looking at the metzler roadtec 01 and the pirelli angel gt. I understand these will not be as high mileage as Harley/cruiser tires but Im looking for performance over mileage, plus they are much lighter. On a side note, I also plan on sealing these rims once they are built so I can avoid tubes. Im planning on using 3m 4412 sealing tape and its corresponding adhesion promoter as well as tpms system to be safe(relatively). Anyone try this?

No shortage of 17" tyres, I have one on the rear of my Glide, along with an 18" on the front, both Avons. I thought about using a 17" front instead, but reckoned the larger diameter rim would look a little more balanced - SG front with Deuce rear. As for sealing wire-spoked rims I have heard of brands that claim to do it, including H-D themselves, but not with much success as far as I can tell. Fortunately we can use tubes in many modern tubeless tyres, although check that with your preferred tyre brand first.
