Default Retro looking tires

I bought a second Shovelhead, 71 FLH, it's got dry rotted continental tires. I like the old tread pattern, having trouble figuring what I like. Shinko looks good and price is good. But word of mouth says don't.
Wanting other opinions.

Regardless of the "word of mouth" I had great luck with Shinko on my Wideglide.

there are many outlets for vintage tires, just google, coker has some.
i can not say much about shinko tire. they had no issues with traction but i smoked them in 4>5k miles. the highest i ever got was a tad over 5k on the stock dunlop, running a commander now and if it does not pan out, going to the DARKSIDE!

Got 6,000 from the Shinko VS 6,800 from Dunlop and the Dunlop was over twice the price.

wide glide, so you have a 21" front? And the front must match the back or serious injury or even death may result!
So im fairly sure you don't have a square 21" front. Do you have any handling issues?

they do not recommend running an english tire (flat bottom) and the so-called ball bearing tires (mushroom sometimes). i hate the performance tires, good for curves but junk for flat running. there is 2" of contact vs 4.5" of contact. i can smoke a performance tire in less than 4k. they suck on wet pavement, i can break traction on a wet road at 70 mph. they say do not run bias and radial also although i have without issue.
i like the commander so far as it is pretty much a english tire and handles well in the curves without the fall-off feeling, only time will tell if mileage is good, if not, darkside i go!
