How fresh should new tires be?
I just bought a new tire from Dennis kirk I was wondering what’s expected as far as the manufacturing date when buying a new tire? This tire was manufactured the 49th week of 2017. So it is already 4 weeks shy of a 1 1/2 years old. Is that seem ok? I don’t put many miles on my motorcycle and I might have a tire for a long time. Thanks guys.

send them back. you expect NEW tire and you should get NEW tire and report the issue. tire can go bad on the shelf and if stored in sunlight and heat even worst. the industry standard for auto is 5 years but not written in stone. would you buy a 4 1/2 year old battery, naw!!! so why a tire. you rear depends on the 4" contact patch with the road.

I bought from an online vendor once and never again. Front tire was almost 2 years old. the rear was over 4 and when I contacted them they gave me a song and dance. Told me to call the manufacturer if I didnt believe the tire stored in their warehouse was every bit as good as a 6 month old tire.I called Dunlop and the CS rep told me he would not except it as they have a 5 year warranty. Jake Wilson paid for the return of the rear but offered no guarantee that the next one would be any newer. The next rear was sent ups ground took 10 days from time I shipped back the first one. The replacement was just over 2 years old. I ride a lot 6-8k a year and tires last about 3 years. I will never try to save $30-$40 on tires again. I have a cycle gear close to me and I will order store pick up. Good luck with their CS...
