Default Fat bob rear wheel conundrum

So long story short I got a 09 Fat Bob and got caught in the rain. Bearings blew out and the axle ground the wheel out. I want to keep this one as stock as possible but I'm having a hell of a time finding a used rear wheel. No problem finding front wheels left and right. Outside of going to Harley-Davidson to spend $700 on a new wheel for a 10 year old bike does anyone have any suggestions on where I could look the find one? I highly doubt any welding or metal work could be done to repair it. I can get three fingers into the hole that the axle ground out. The closest I found was a guy who was going to go to an auction and get one from a 2014. And he still wanted $500. I don't know what it is but I like that slotted wheel.

Well, the Rears come up occasionally on ebay, but it's all about "Timing". I watched a couple go for less than $150 fairly recently.

You can get a NEW one Online from Surdyke for $460 ... Part# 40900179
(put # in the search box ... Mind the "fine print". probably weighs over 20# and won't be Free Shipping)

Can you post some good pics showing the damage?

I have to get it back off for better pictures. Needed to move her to my new place. Basically, what isn't showing in this picture is the area behind where the bearing normally sits and the axel runs through is about as big as the hole the bearing sits in.

This particular Bob was one of my fathers bike's before he passed. He started going downhill real bad about 2 years ago and I didn't realize, being stationed in another state, how bad things were. Apparently his garage was leaking and moisture had gotten to everything. On top of it being in Florida where everything is covered in sand. I know he had changed out the bearings on all of his bikes to get rid of that plastic crap that Harley started using but I guess this was one that he didn't get to. I got caught in a rainstorm that came out of nowhere and sure enough the bearing blew out. Actually scratch that, the bearing turned into dust. Because this was one of my old man's bikes I don't want to sell her. I want to get this bike back up get it to where he had envisioned it. And like I said earlier, I actually like the looks of those slotted OEM rims. Maybe powder coat them.

It appears that your outer bearing race is still in place. The wheel may not be in as bad shape as it looks

You'll probably be OK ... get that Outer Race out of there and we'll see

Why yes. Yes it does. I assumed it wouldn't work because of the axel having to go through the center of the rim. Then of course the dealership saying it wouldn't be safe. But if you guys know from experience that the bearing is strong enough to take those kinds of pressures and I won't end up all across some road somewhere especially when I have a passenger.
